Blue Dress Park is a triangular concrete slab notable and impressive for what we can imagine happening there. The park is located at the boundaries of Brewers Hill, Riverwest, and the northern end of downtown. It overlooks the Milwaukee river, the lower east side, and the heart of the city. The park’s unique shape is defined by a waist-high Arts & Crafts-styled iron fence. The park was christened in 2000, there is no gate, so it is essentially always open.
The Friends of Blue Dress Park have organized the first annual Blue Dress Cup competition: a series of Olympic-style events designed to determine the Best Artist in Milwaukee. Competitors will be chosen through an open application process and pitted against one another in tests of individuality, social networking, sensitivity and patience. A panel of esteemed judges will be present to evaluate the competitors’ performance and choose the winner.
